The route network branching out in all directions at the five regions lets you enter a breathtaking alpine setting that will have you in awe. What an amazing alternative to skiing or snowboarding! With snowshoes strapped to your feet, you’ll head out into the powder snow. Because once you’ve put them on, there’s no holding back in the snow! Time to explore the mountains of Styria and the Salzburger Land region step by step.

Brain: off; fresh air: in! That’s one of best experiences when ambitious snowshoe hikers wade through pristine natural landscapes. It’s the perfect sport to clear your head and fill your lungs with fresh mountain air. 

A total of five regions can be explored on foot: from the Salzburger Sportwelt to Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, the Hochkönig and Grossarl Valley. And at every resort, beautiful snowshoe routes await winter sports enthusiasts. 

On the Loosbühelalm  in Grossarl at 1,769 metres above sea level, in Filzmoos, in Flachau or in Gastein: The snowshoe routes are accessible for everyone. You don’t have the right equipment at hand? There are sports rentals  at every village where you can rent your snowshoes.

… await you in the Salzburger Sportwelt: Ten routes have snowshoe hikers flocking to the beautiful Salzburger Land region every year. As a participant of a guided tour or on your own: Walking through the powder snow is an absolute highlight either way.

… await you in Schladming-Dachstein: In the Untertal, in the Obertal or towards the Rossfeld: You can hike over the glistening snow cover on the routes along the toboggan runs or cross-country. Your constant companions: the sun and a smile on your face. 

… await you in Gastein: 18 different routes with a total of 60 kilometres: From the Elisabeth Promenade to the mountain station on the Stubnerkogel and the snowshoe trail in Dorfgastein, you can choose from a number of exciting options. 

… await you in the Hochkönig region: The educational snowshoe trail leads winter hikers through a winter wonderland on the Hochkönig – accompanied by a guide. 

… await you in Grossarltal: Become one with nature and walk with snowshoes and telescopic poles through the snow-covered winter landscape - past bizarre snow-dusted trees and impressive views. The Jagahütte is located directly on the exit of the slope No. 5 Hochbrand at the confluence of the slope Himmelreich No. 10 at 1600 m. The cozy dining room with a great ambience invites you to linger. The sunny terrace is a perfect place for ski tourers an skiers as well. The Jagahütte also offers overnight acccommodation for up to 12 people.

10 March 2024: Hochkönig ski hut roas with the Highest Farmers' Market in the Alps
From 11:00 - 16:00: All you need to bring for the ski hut roas is your ski equipment, an appetite and plenty of good humour. Off you go along the 120 kilometres of pistes to the 17 participating ski huts, which on this day are all about enjoyment, nostalgia and tradition.

Various folk and brass bands play in and around the huts. Schnalzer provide exciting moments for all guests and the nostalgic skiers with their equipment from days long gone are a must-see. Live music with the Gasteiner Perchtenmusi.

13 March 2024: Ski and Taste
Skiing enjoyment followed by wine tasting at the Karbachalm, accompanied by Austrian winegrowers

The Dachstein seems close enough to touch! The Kessleralm is the only hut right in the heart of the Planai (valley station Lärchkogel middle station cable car), all large slopes lead to the hut, it is therefore ideal as a meeting point. We pamper you with a comprehensive, home-style cuisine as well as homemade pastries every day. Relax, soak up the sun or flirt with après-ski at the beautiful umbrella bar: the central point of contact on the Planai! Accessible at any time by car or taxi.

Die Knapplhütte befindet sich auf 1.500 Meter Seehöhe in einer absolut schneesicheren und sonnigen Traumlage. Sie gehört zu den AlmSkihütten und ist eine der insgesamt 15 Skihütten am Hauser Kaibling.

Die Familie Höflehner ist wohl eine der bekanntesten und geschichtsträchtigsten Gastgeber-Familien der Region Schladming-Dachstein. Seit 1957 verwöhnt die Familie ihre Gäste – damals in einer kleinen aber feinen Jausenstation mit 10 Zimmern – kulinarisch und mit viel Herzblut. Die erste Skiliftanlage der Familie Höflehner im Jahr 1958 war wohl der Grundstein für die weitere Entwicklung der Familienbetriebe. Heute betreibt Gerhard Höflehner mit seiner Frau Katrin nicht nur die Knapplhütte, sondern auch „Knappl´s Bergschlössl“, die Gumpenbar und das 4 Sterne Superior „Natur- und Wellnesshotel Höflehner“.

Eines ist heute wie damals noch gleich: Schon beim Reinkommen duftet es nach Kasnock´n und Kaiserschmarrn umrahmt von Livemusik an den Wochenenden ;-)
