Are you familiar with the following situation? The air is freezing cold, and with every exhale a little cloud forms in front of your face – that’s when winter shows its true colours. A thick blanket of snow covers the mountain pastures and slopes.
The snow gently crunches underneath your feet and the sun is shining from the sky. Perfect conditions for a snowshoe hike after an eventful ski day in the wondrous world of Ski amadé! 

The route network branching out in all directions at the five regions lets you enter a breathtaking alpine setting that will have you in awe. What an amazing alternative to skiing or snowboarding! With snowshoes strapped to your feet, you’ll head out into the powder snow. Because once you’ve put them on, there’s no holding back in the snow! Time to explore the mountains of Styria and the Salzburger Land region step by step.

Your snowshoe experience in ski amadé

Brain: off; fresh air: in! That’s one of best experiences when ambitious snowshoe hikers wade through pristine natural landscapes. It’s the perfect sport to clear your head and fill your lungs with fresh mountain air. 

A total of five regions can be explored on foot: from the Salzburger Sportwelt to Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, the Hochkönig and Grossarl Valley. And at every resort, beautiful snowshoe routes await winter sports enthusiasts. 

On the Loosbühelalm  in Grossarl at 1,769 metres above sea level, in Filzmoos, in Flachau or in Gastein: The snowshoe routes are accessible for everyone. You don’t have the right equipment at hand? There are sports rentals  at every village where you can rent your snowshoes.

The most beautiful snowshoe routes …

… await you in the Salzburger Sportwelt: Ten routes have snowshoe hikers flocking to the beautiful Salzburger Land region every year. As a participant of a guided tour or on your own: Walking through the powder snow is an absolute highlight either way.

… await you in Schladming-Dachstein: In the Untertal, in the Obertal or towards the Rossfeld: You can hike over the glistening snow cover on the routes along the toboggan runs or cross-country. Your constant companions: the sun and a smile on your face. 

… await you in Gastein: 18 different routes with a total of 60 kilometres: From the Elisabeth Promenade to the mountain station on the Stubnerkogel and the snowshoe trail in Dorfgastein, you can choose from a number of exciting options. 

… await you in the Hochkönig region: The educational snowshoe trail leads winter hikers through a winter wonderland on the Hochkönig – accompanied by a guide. 

… await you in Grossarltal: Equipped with snowshoes and poles, you’ll be hiking past snow-covered trees, bizarre looking rock formations, and you just might see a deer. Tip: Keep your eyes peeled during your hike through nature!

The Bergstadl with its wonderful backdrop is located in the heart of the Stubnerkogel at 1780 meters above sea level. Right on the ski slope and only a 5-minute walk from the Stubnerkogel middle station, it is the perfect meeting point for skiers, hikers, ski tourers and sun worshipers. On our sunny terrace with a view of the Hohe Tauern, guests of all ages can enjoy the sun from morning to night. In culinary terms, we spoil you primarily with homemade delicacies. Starting with the classics like Bosna and Kasnock`n to Kaiserschmarrn, everyone is sure to find something with us.

Bifei's Hütt'n is situated next to the Hochbifangbahn II in the ski area Altenmarkt-Radstadt. Away from the ski slope action Bifeis Hütt´n is an insider tip from the locals. On the large sun terrace right next to the piste you can enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains.

Our quaint cottage is ideal for celebrations of all kinds. For larger groups we ask for reservation.

The Birkhahnalm - next to the mountain station of Achterjet.

The mountain restaurant Bodenalm is one of the ski lodges in Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl. Skiers make their stop-off here and non-skiers can travel comfortably with the Highliner I on the top. Treat yourself to the dreamlike sun terrace and a  little time out and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views.

Let us spoil you in winter in our hut and on our sun terrace in the best location! Originally the Sommererbauer's stables, our "Stadl" has blossomed into one of the most rustic après-ski huts in Dienten am Hochkönig. The original year 1806 on the beam in the centre of the Bründl Stadl bears witness to its historical origins. Our open fireplace creates a cosy atmosphere in our Stadl. On our terrace you can enjoy the sun and at the same time admire the marvellous panorama of the incomparable Hochkönig.

We offer traditional cuisine. Especially the freshly prepared spare ribs are a favourite among our guests from our extensive menu. Our wine list is certainly a highlight! We try to give you a small overview of different Austrian wines with an enormous range. Let our 2 young sommeliers Lukas and Michael advise you.

During the Ski and Wine Enjoyment Week from 9th to 16th March 2024, 60 different Austrian wine rarities from top winegrowers (Prager, Kollwentz, Knoll, etc.) will also be offered by the glass throughout the week. This gives guests an unusual opportunity to enjoy Austrian wines of the highest quality.

It makes us proud that the Bürglalm is one of the few selected Salzburg ski huts that follows the footsteps of the "Via Culinaria", 8 pleasure trails through the Salzburger Land.

In the "Hut Stool" and "Herb Lovers" categories, we received two commendations. Gabi Bürgler created the "Moar in der Pfoad" as our special Via Culinaria dish with the 2 toque chef Jürgen Vigne from the Pfefferschiff in Söllheim near Salzburg under the title "Gourmet in the snow – the peak of pleasure".


We serve you quickly and carefully in the cosy parlours and on the sun terrace. We serve down-to-earth and creative dishes with many products from our region. We serve meat, fish, vegan and vegetarian dishes, not forgetting our delicious desserts.

Ski & Wine Enjoyment Week from 9th to 16th of March, 2024

From 9th to 16th of March 2024, the Burgstallhütte will be dedicated to the motto "Wine meets cheese and sweets – wines from all over Austria with dessert and cheese".
Wine enjoyment from the large bottle, special cheese platters and dessert variations are offered daily.
