Are you familiar with the following situation? The air is freezing cold, and with every exhale a little cloud forms in front of your face – that’s when winter shows its true colours. A thick blanket of snow covers the mountain pastures and slopes.
The snow gently crunches underneath your feet and the sun is shining from the sky. Perfect conditions for a snowshoe hike after an eventful ski day in the wondrous world of Ski amadé! 

The route network branching out in all directions at the five regions lets you enter a breathtaking alpine setting that will have you in awe. What an amazing alternative to skiing or snowboarding! With snowshoes strapped to your feet, you’ll head out into the powder snow. Because once you’ve put them on, there’s no holding back in the snow! Time to explore the mountains of Styria and the Salzburger Land region step by step.

Your snowshoe experience in ski amadé

Brain: off; fresh air: in! That’s one of best experiences when ambitious snowshoe hikers wade through pristine natural landscapes. It’s the perfect sport to clear your head and fill your lungs with fresh mountain air. 

A total of five regions can be explored on foot: from the Salzburger Sportwelt to Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, the Hochkönig and Grossarl Valley. And at every resort, beautiful snowshoe routes await winter sports enthusiasts. 

On the Loosbühelalm  in Grossarl at 1,769 metres above sea level, in Filzmoos, in Flachau or in Gastein: The snowshoe routes are accessible for everyone. You don’t have the right equipment at hand? There are sports rentals  at every village where you can rent your snowshoes.

The most beautiful snowshoe routes …

… await you in the Salzburger Sportwelt: Ten routes have snowshoe hikers flocking to the beautiful Salzburger Land region every year. As a participant of a guided tour or on your own: Walking through the powder snow is an absolute highlight either way.

… await you in Schladming-Dachstein: In the Untertal, in the Obertal or towards the Rossfeld: You can hike over the glistening snow cover on the routes along the toboggan runs or cross-country. Your constant companions: the sun and a smile on your face. 

… await you in Gastein: 18 different routes with a total of 60 kilometres: From the Elisabeth Promenade to the mountain station on the Stubnerkogel and the snowshoe trail in Dorfgastein, you can choose from a number of exciting options. 

… await you in the Hochkönig region: The educational snowshoe trail leads winter hikers through a winter wonderland on the Hochkönig – accompanied by a guide. 

… await you in Grossarltal: Become one with nature and walk with snowshoes and telescopic poles through the snow-covered winter landscape - past bizarre snow-dusted trees and impressive views. You might spot a shy deer here and there. Tip: Be vigilant and keep your eyes open when walking through nature. Avoid feeding game and pay attention to the ‘Respect your limits’ signs! Seit Winter 2013/14 haben wir – Sandra und Hans Peter Gruber – das traditionelle Wagrainer Haus übernommen. Es liegt nur wenige Meter von unserem Almstadl entfernt.

Wir begrüßen Sie auf 1750m Höhe im Ski- und Wandergebiet Flachau-Wagrain. Aufgrund der einzigartigen Lage erreicht man uns im Winter nur mittels  Gondel oder Skiern (bis 16.00 Uhr) – ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.

Freundlichkeit und Gastlichkeit kombiniert mit Standards die in unserer Region üblich sind. Nicht zu vergessen, unser aus Amerika importierter Barbecue-Smoker, aus dem wir ab sofort wieder die legendären und schmackhaften Spare Ribs servieren.

Weitmoserin

Auf dem wohl sonnigsten Platz der Planai, an der Bergstation der Weitmoosalmlifte steht die urige Blockbauhütte Weitmoosalm. Die Sonne verwöhnt Dich von früh bis abends auf unserer wunderschönen Sonnenterrasse. In unserem Wintergarten kannst Du bei jedem Wetter die herrliche Aussicht auf die Bergwelt genießen. In unmittelbarer Nähe befindet sich der Super-Freestylepark, sowie ein Anfänger Übungshang der Schischule Tritscher mit einem Sunkid-Zauberteppich.

A stop at the ski hut and "Alm wine house" Weitmoser Schlossalm is one of the special highlights in the ski area gastein. Selected music, carefully chosen wines and the excellent sorted wine cellar with more than 50 different austrian wines and culinary on very high niveau will be granted.

Bastian Kaltenböck, a native of Pongau, runs the fantastic NeueHeimat winery in Gamlitz. He brings his best wines up to 2000 metres and tells us how a ski jumper became a winemaker. Fish specialities from the Schlossalm kitchen

The Wengeralm is located directly on the ski slopes in the Gastein Valley at 1,650 m and offers guests a spacious restaurant, a cozy bar and a sun terrace. In the summer, right in the walking area near the middle station of the summit lift Fulseck located, it is a popular destination for hikers and families. Our cozy parlor with an open fireplace and comfortable seating invites you to spend sociable evenings.

From 15th to 22nd March 2025, the Wengeralm invites you to the Ski & Wine Enjoyment Week – a true feast for the senses! Look forward to exquisite wines from selected Austrian winegrowers and culinary highlights in which the meat from our own Wengerhof cattle plays the leading role. Regional, fresh and prepared with love - this is what winter in the mountains tastes like. Experience unforgettable moments of pleasure in our cosy ski hut!


From the terrace, the view of the Steinerne Meer with the Hochkönig is a feast for the eyes. At only 950 m above sea level, we offer hikers and cyclists a snack, warm home cooking and home-made pastries in summer. In the winter, we offer hearty and regional mountain food for lunch and dinner. Parking available, directly at the hut.
