For the first time this winter, Dorfgastein is organising so-called snow magic evenings. On these dates, the Wengeralm or the Reiterhütte are on the to-do list for ski tourers. At the same time, the summit cable car runs to the middle station on these evenings.
From there, you head down the piste by torchlight for a cosy evening at the Wengeralm. If you want more excitement, you can pay a small fee to secure a place on the piste bully.
The return journey is around 9 pm, either by sledge
(a limited number are also available for hire at the Wengeralm) or by torchlight on foot to the middle station, where the cable car is already waiting for the descent.
On these days, the piste closure from the huts down to the valley only applies from 9 pm. The gondola ride is free for holders of season and multi-day tickets.
