I have not yet found a ski hut in which there is more love for detail and comfort than in the Zachhofalm in Dienten. The philosophy behind it is to preserve knowledge, tradition and customs in the region and to give it a new face in the present and for the future. Many products from their own herb garden are for sale. You can also spend the night in the Zachhofalm. My recommendation here is the desserts.
The Hofalm is located directly in the middle of the ski area of Flachau and is, in my eyes, a real insider tip. There are only two large tables, which naturally lead to a larger and more sociable atmosphere. Schnapps with your neighbour at this table sets the mood even more. You should definitely try the Kaiserschmarrn from the small but great menu (with many products from their own farm).
The Burgstallhütte is located on the valley run to Flachauwinkl (Zauchensee). The sun terrace invites you for a lengthy stay. Inside, the Burgstallhütte distinguishes itself through its rustic and cosy atmosphere. However, there is limited space in here so it may be worth going in for an early lunch or to do a couple more runs before you come in. The Kasnocken here is amazing.
If you are on the Königstour in Mühlbach, you should go for a break at the Thoraualm in Maria Alm. The hut was built in 1932 and renovated in 2010. Most of the products used for the dishes come from their own farm, so you know for example, where the meat in your burger comes from.
A good portion of Styrian warmth and excellent home cooking can be found in the Hochwurzenalm in the ski area of Reiteralm. The alm is directly located on the slope below the summit and offers a direct connection to the Schlittenbahn.
I am curious to see what you think! Have you ever been to one of these huts and which one in your opinion, is the most rustic hut in Ski amadé?
