12th African Tobogganing Championships

The 12th African Tobogganing Championships will take place on 18 January 2025. The participants meet at 9.30 am in front of the Gasthaus Hetzenbichl. There they will be introduced to the handling and basics of tobogganing by the St. Johann Mountain Rescue Service.

At 1.00 pm, the real action begins. On the 500 metre long toboggan run, the participants - all with African roots - fight for important seconds and metres. Some of the 50 starters will be sitting on a toboggan for the first time and will be entering uncharted territory with their participation. At around 3.00 pm, the fastest runners will be celebrated at the final award ceremony.

The event is supported by the St. Johann in Salzburg Tourist Board. WinWin is the main sponsor. The state of Salzburg also supports this event. The St. Johann mountain rescue service will ensure safety. Snow Space Salzburg is responsible for preparing the pistes.
