On 11th and 12th of January 2020 Zauchensee is the hotspot for the best female skiers in the world in the disciplines downhill and alpine combination. On both days side events take place, with public bib draws and colorful events at the market place in Altenmarkt. At the same time, a jubilee is celebrated: the FIS Worldcup made his first stop in Zauchensee in 1980, 40 years ago. At that time, the World Cup race still led on the east downhill - today the ladies go down with more than 100 km/h from Gamskogel. The downhill course is considered one of the most spectacular and challenging in the entire women's ski world cup.
